Upon landing at Kigali International Airport, you’ll be greeted by our driver-guide, who will transfer you to your hotel in Kigali. A briefing about your itinerary will follow.
Following breakfast, a roughly 6.5-hour scenic drive will take you to Nyungwe Forest National Park. The journey includes visits to the National Museum in Butare and the historic King’s Palace in Nyanza. Lunch will be provided in Butare. Continue to Nyungwe, where you’ll have dinner and stay overnight.

An early start takes you into Nyungwe Forest for a chimpanzee trekking experience. Observe and interact with these fascinating primates within their natural environment. A nature walk to Kamiranzovu Waterfall follows, offering insights into the park’s rich biodiversity and a chance to enjoy the tranquil surroundings.
Experience breathtaking views from the forest canopy on an exhilarating canopy walk. Afterwards, you’ll travel to the picturesque town of Kibuye. Lunch will be at Bethany Guest House, followed by an opportunity to explore Kibuye, engage with local communities, and learn about their culture.
A boat trip across the lake takes you to Nkora, offering stunning views and further opportunities for cultural exchange with local residents. The route passes through Rubengera and includes a visit to Gatunda Village, showcasing the area’s scenic beauty.

A guided tour of the Kinunu Coffee Washing Station and interaction with local villagers provide a deeper understanding of local life. Enjoy lunch with villagers by the lake before a drive to Gisenyi. The journey offers more scenic views and encounters with local communities.
A border crossing takes you to Goma, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, for a city tour. Learn about Goma’s past, including the impact of the 2002 Mount Nyiragongo eruption, and witness the city’s resilience.
An exceptional experience awaits in Parc National des Virunga: gorilla tracking. Spend an hour observing these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. Return to your hotel for relaxation.
An exciting hike up the active volcano Mount Nyiragongo is on the agenda. Trek through lush forests and lava fields to reach the summit, where you’ll spend the night in Nyiragongo Crater Cabanas, witnessing the awe-inspiring lava lake.
Descend from Mount Nyiragongo and return to Goma before crossing back into Rwanda and transferring to Kigali. Depending on your flight schedule, a Kigali city tour, including a visit to the Genocide Memorial Site, may be possible before your late evening departure, concluding your unforgettable journey.
